The Literature elective is a semester length subject that is open to all Year 10 students.
The aim of this unit is to provide students with the opportunity to study a range of literary texts such as: a classic novel, poetry, contemporary fiction and film.
Students are encouraged to think critically about the ways that authors present different views about the world through their writing, and how these interpretations contribute to our understanding of the human condition.
Through their work across this elective, students analyse and evaluate how complex and unfamiliar values, beliefs and assumptions, are represented through both structural and linguistic features. Students have the opportunity to create a range of sustained and coherent responses revealing their understanding of the ways grammar and vocabulary affect their writing in nuanced ways.
