Physical Education & Health
Health and Physical Education
The year 9 core Health programme uses a ‘strengths-based’ model and assists students to establish positive attitudes towards their health and well-being.
Health issues relevant to young people are explored and students engage in activities designed to equip them with life skills and appropriate strategies to use in response to well-being and health issues.
Topics covered include:
- First aid
- Drug education
- Muscular-skeletal system
- Reproduction, Sexuality and Relationships
Physical Education at year 9, complements the Health programme by offering students the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge in a practical setting. Participation, resilience and the development of advanced skills in the key areas of fitness, tactical play and leadership, are the focus during activities such as:
- Rhythmic gymnastics
- SEPEP Soccer
